The first section, called the <emphasis>head</emphasis>, contains meta-information about the document, such as its title, the name of the author, the parent document, and so on. <acronym>XHTML</acronym> has tags to denote headings in the document at up to six different levels. <acronym>XHTML</acronym> tem tags para indicar títulos no documento em até seis níveis diferentes.
The largest and most prominent heading is <tag>h1</tag>, then <tag>h2</tag>, continuing down to <tag>h6</tag>. O maior e mais importante título é <tag>h1</tag>, depois <tag>h2</tag>, seguindo até <tag>h6</tag>.
